Fisher Studio & Gallery

from: Thu  2 Jan  2014 until: Thu 31 Dec  2015

While most of the once thriving harbours along the pretty East Neuk coast are now home to pleasure-craft and small fishing boats, Pittenweem still retains its fishing industry and busy fish market.  Artists have long been a part of the local community, and many more have come to live here recently, showing their work in the annual Pittenweem Arts Festival.
The Fisher Studio & Gallery exhibits work by contemporary artists and craftworkers, most of whom are based in Scotland.  Exhibitions take the form of a mixed display of both well-known and newly qualified artists, the exhibits and artists changing throughout the season. We have a core of very popular artists whose work we show regularly, including the resident artist, Jan Fisher whose Scottish landscapes, seascapes and rock studies have a wide appeal to her many collectors.  She works in watercolour and oil in her studio above the gallery, drawing her inspiration from the changing seasons in the many beautiful areas of Scotland where she has lived and re-visits regularly.

John Fisher, who trained as a painter, left London to enjoy a life of freedom from the rat-race.  He lived in Canada for a while before settling in Scotland. He and Jan decided to open their own gallery and eventually came to Pittenweem, where he successfully runs the Fisher Studio & Gallery, which takes up all of his time

The Fisher Gallery publishes a comprehensive selection of framed and unframed giclee prints by Jan and Anna Fisher. Subjects include the East Fife villages of Elie, St Monans, Crail, Anstruther, Cellardyke and Pittenweem, also St Andrews and views across the Forth to Edinburgh, the Bass Rock and the May Isle, and the beaches and skies of the west coast.
