St Andrews Golf Courses.

We have put together a brief summary of the 24 golf courses that are within 20 miles of St Andrews. Golfers are spoilt for choice, while many want to play the 'Old Course', there are plenty of alternative great courses within very easy reach of St Andrews to play.

Some of the more illustrious courses require golfers to produce handicap certificates and golfers have to maintain a certain speed of play. Many require golfers to be dressed in 'smart casual clothing'. If you wish to play a popular top course, we recommend you book the St Andrews Golf Course of your choice in advance, all courses will take advanced bookings in some form or another.

The St Andrews 'Old Course' will take advanced bookings on all days except Saturdays and it is closed on Sundays, it operates a ballot/lottery for over 50% of the start times each year.

Castle Course, St Andrews Links, By Kinkell, Fife, KY16 8PL  Opened in 2008. Cliff top course with panoramic views over St Andrews, complete with blind shots, cliff carries, severely sloped greens and stunning vistas. Tel:- 01334 466666 - 18 hole, 6,759 yards, Par 71.

Crail Golfing Society, Balcomie Links Course - Balcomie Clubhouse, Fifeness, Crail, Fife KY10 3XN - 13 miles south-east of St Andrews. 1st mentioned in 1859, redesigned by Old Tom Morris 1895. Tel:- 01333 450686 - 18 hole, 5,861 yards Par 69

Drumoig Golf Course, St Andrews, Fife, KY16 0DS - 9 miles north of St Andrews. A parkland course. Tel:- 01382 541898 - 18 hole, 6,835 yards Par 72

Duke's St Andrews, Craigtoun Park, St Andrews, Fife KY16 8NS - 3miles from centre of St Andrews. Opened in 1995. 'Best Golf Club in Scotland' in the Golf Club of the Year Awards 2010. Tel:- 0 1334 470214. 18 hole, 7,512 yards, Par 71.

Eden Course, St Andrews Links Trust, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9SF Opened in 1914. Home of one of Scotland's oldest amateur tournaments, the Eden Trophy. Tel:- 01334 466666 - 18 hole, 6,250 yards, Par 70.

Elie House Golf Course, Elie, Fife, KY9 1AS. In 1832 the Elie and Earlsferry Golf Club was formed, the Club house was built in 1875. Ladybank Annsmuir, Ladybank, Fife KY15 7RA - 15 miles west of St Andrews. Established in 1879. Qualifying course for The Open. Tel:- 01337 830814 - 18 hole, 6,580 yards Par 71

Lundin Ladies Golf Club, Woodielea Road, Lundin Links, Fife KY8 6AR. - 13 miles south of St Andrews. Designed by James Braid in 1891. Lundin Ladies was founded in 1910. Lundin Ladies is the only club so named 'Ladies Golf Club' in Scotland, it is quite unique, being completely run by ladies, there are no gentlemen in officialdom. New Course, St Andrews Links Trust, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9SF Designed by Blyth and laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1895. Oldest Golf Course in the World.
Old Course, St Andrews Links Trust, St Andrews, Fife KY16 9SF. In the 13th Century shepherds played an early form of today's golf here. Scotscraig Golf Club, Golf Road, Tayport, Fife DD6 9DZ - 10 miles north of St Andrews. Established in 1817. Open Championship final qualifying course.  Tel:- 01382 552515. 18 hole, 6,669 yards, Par 71.
