We have put together a brief summary of the 24 golf courses that are within 20 miles of St Andrews. Golfers are spoilt for choice, while many want to play the 'Old Course', there are plenty of alternative great courses within very easy reach of St Andrews to play.
Some of the more illustrious courses require golfers
to produce handicap certificates and golfers have to
maintain a certain speed of play. Many require golfers to be
dressed in 'smart casual clothing'. If you wish to play a popular
top course, we recommend you book the St Andrews Golf Course of
your choice in advance, all courses will take advanced
bookings in some form or another.
The St Andrews 'Old Course' will take advanced bookings on all days except Saturdays and it is closed on Sundays, it operates a ballot/lottery for over 50% of the start times each year.
