could be described as the town which gave Scotland its patron
saint, when a saintly monk named Rule, who lived in western Greece,
travelled here with his most treasured possession: a box which
contained a human arm bone, three fingers from a right hand, one
tooth and a kneecap; all genuine relics of St Andrew.
St Andrews is a treasure trove from the past, with the ruin of the Culdee church of St Mary on the Rock, to places where martyrs were burnt, all identified for you by plaques around the town, telling each location's story. All part of Scotland's murky past.
St Andrews Golf has a significant place in St Andrews being the home of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in Scotland, they determine the rules of golf worldwide except for the USA. It is also the home of the world famous 'Old Course' golf course.
